Mock Executive MBA Class: Industry Structure and Firm Capabilities

Join Associate Professor of Practice Scott Rockart for a mock Executive MBA class. This session will simulate an abridged executive MBA class, followed by a short Q&A with Professor Rockart. 

In this session, we will look at Richard Branson’s entrepreneurial foray into space tourism. While there was clearly some excess optimism, and some bad luck along the way, we will focus on Branson’s strategy. We will evaluate the likely industry structure he would face and the capabilities that Branson and his team bring to the industry. We’ll ask not only if this was a good idea, but what was essential in establishing a strategy that could have had (and might still have) a chance of success in line with the risks.
